How to manage the extra colors

From Opera Wiki

This step-by-step guide explains how to configure and use the Profiles extra color feature within the software. This logic allows you to manage complex color combinations where, in addition to the traditional Internal and External colors, it is necessary to define additional variants such as the extruded Profiles base color and the color of the Co-extruded gasket color, associating dedicated prices with them.

Step 1: Creation of the Color Rules

The Color Rules Table

The first step consists of defining the logical containers for the new color variants.

  1. Access the Archives menu and select Color rules.
  2. Click the Insert button File:tastopiu.png to create a new rule.
  3. Configure the first rule for the Base Body:
    • Name: Enter an identifier (e.g. BASE).
    • Type: Select Profiles extra color from the drop-down menu.
    • System: Specify the coloring reference system.
    • Description: Allows you to specify a description.
    • Displayed name: Allows you to specify the name that will be shown on the selection screen.
    • Symbol: Enter a letter identifying the color (e.g. B). (it will be shown as an identifying icon in the job order).
    • Position: leave auto if you do not want to specify a dedicated position. If specified, it indicates the order of appearance.
    • Show on window chart/Show in diagrams: activate the checkbox if you want to display the coloring in printouts.
    • Function: Select the dedicated item Profiles base color from the drop-down menu.
  4. Repeat the operation to create the second rule dedicated to the Gaskets:
    • Function: From the drop-down menu select Co-extruded gasket color.

Step 2: Enabling the coloring in Colors archive

The Colors archive with the specification by use

Before the individual colors can be selected in the dedicated drop-down menus, it is necessary to map their logical behavior within the general color database.

  1. Open the Colors window (associated with the reference system, e.g. PVC).
  2. Select from the list on the left the color you want to use (e.g. BIANCO-MA/WHITE).
  3. In the central section, locate and activate the Distinguish by use checkbox (the checkbox must be selected to unlock the grid below).
  4. In the sub-grid of use constraints, associate the finish by enabling the correct row:
    • If the finish defines the extruded body of the profile, set the row to: Function: Profile base color.
    • If the finish describes the gasket component, set the row to: Function: Co-extruded gasket color.
  5. Once the colors have been defined according to their use, click OK to save.
Note N.B: If a finish is not associated with the respective use on this screen, the related dynamic field in the General info - type (Step 4) or in the Prices - profile (Step 5) will be empty or will not allow the desired color to be selected.

Step 3: Matching in the Series parameters

The series archive for matching color rules

Once the general rules have been created, the software must be instructed as to which profile series they should be applied to.

  1. Open the Systems window and select the desired series in Series.
  2. Locate the button File:tastoprofiliserie.png to open the profile management of the series.
  3. In the first two useful fields of the list, associate the rules created in Step 1:
    • Extra color profiles #3: Select from the drop-down menu the rule created for the base body (e.g. Base Color).
    • Extra color profile #4: Select the rule created for the gasket (e.g. Gasket C Color).
  4. Save the changes by clicking OK.

Step 4: Management within the General info - type in Job

The general type data screen in which the window/door colors are defined

When the operator uses the configured profile within a type in the job order, the color selection panel will adapt automatically.

  1. Open the current job order and access the General info - type screen.
  2. In the finish configuration grid, in addition to the standard Int. color (Internal color) and Ext. color (External Color) fields, the system will show the new dynamic fields.
  3. The color selection will also make the graphic symbols set in the rules appear. In the example shown we will have:
    • The symbol [B] will identify the selected row of the Base Body color.
    • The symbol [G] will identify the selected row of the Gasket color.
  4. The operator can then click on the menus to assign the desired specific finish for the current job order.

Step 5: Configuration of Prices - profile

The profile price archive for matching prices

To ensure that the software correctly calculates costs based on the chosen color combination, the profile price list must be updated.

  1. Go to Profiles archive, in the profile prices section by clicking the button File:tastoprezzi.png.
  2. The system generates the classic price columns based only on Internal/External Color, adding the extra colors to the side.
  3. Within the price grid it is now possible to specify the profile cost by precisely combining:
    • Internal / External Color Group
    • Variants matched to the Extra color profiles #3(Base) rule
    • Variants matched to the Extra color profiles #4 (Gasket) rule
  4. Enter the corresponding price values. During quotation, the software will check the exact combination configured in the general type data of the type in Step 4 to retrieve the correct price per linear meter.
