Note N.B: To access this window in Opera Job Management: from the Data menu, select the Backup copies button.

This function is used to make backup copies of the Opera archives. Running backup copies at least once a day is strongly recommended because it prevents permanent data loss (profiles, typologies, jobs, etc.). Data loss may occur due to a sudden power failure of the computer, the accidental presence of a virus program that has irreparably damaged the data, a hard disk failure, or other causes. In the situations just described, without backup copies it would no longer be possible to resume normal work. On the contrary, if backup copies are available, it will simply be necessary to restore them in order to resume work.

Contents

Note N.B: It is necessary to set up the backup copies in the Backup copies - Settings window, opened by pressing the File:tastobackup.png button in the Directories window. The Backup copies - Settings window can also be accessed through the File:tastoimpostazioni.png button described on this page.

External backup copies

Note N.B: The copies on the external support will be made using as destination the write drive indicated in the Backup copies - Settings window.

  • File:tastoesterna.png: Pressing this button opens the image shown on the side. The file extension is already indicated by the program. The user can enter an explanatory note in the dedicated Notes field.

The File:tastobackup.png button opens the Select files window, where it will be possible to set the File:tastocopiatotale.png of the archives. It is also possible to make partial copies of the archives by selecting only the required items. The File:tastoattivatutti.png and File:tastodisattivatutti.png buttons allow you to enable or disable the archives if necessary.

Local backup copies

Note N.B: The local copies will be made using as destination the write drive indicated in the Backup copies - Settings window. In this case, the program will make the copy on the internal support, that is, the hard disk, specifically inside the Backup folder located under the Opera folder.

  • File:tastolocale.png: Pressing this button opens the image shown on the side.

Backup copies to file

  • File:tastoFile.png: By pressing this button, it will be possible to choose the save destination, which is usually the Downloads folder inside the Opera folder.

Cloud backup copies

  • File:tastocloud.png: pressing this button opens the window that allows you to perform the cloud backup copy of the Opera working folders.
Note N.B: To use cloud backup, request the parameters from the Opera Company technicians.

The Type field is filled in by the program after setting the backup system type in the backup copies window. The user can enter an explanatory note in the dedicated Notes field. The backup can be sent in a separate process if the Run in a separate process field is enabled. This allows you to continue using the program while the backup copy is being performed.

The Remote repository, Remote folder, and Working copy fields are filled in by the program.

  • image:tastocancellacopiadilavoro.png: if set in the backup copies window, the program makes a local copy in the indicated folder and path. Pressing this button allows you to remove the working copy.
  • image:tastocleanupcopiadilavoro.png: pressing this button allows you to delete the working copies after an operation that did not end correctly.

The File:tastobackup.png button starts the backup.
