The profile components window
Note N.B: To access this window in Opera Job Management: from the Archives menu, select the Profiles button and, in the following window, press the Image:tastocomponenti.png button.

This window is used to make additions or changes to a selected profile. Below is the description of the main fields:

Contents

Section 0: function buttons

The buttons in the side toolbar allow you to manage the profile components:

  • File:+.png: allows you to insert a new component.
  • File:-.png: allows you to delete the selected component.
  • File:modifica.png: allows you to modify the data of the selected component.
  • File:=.png: allows you to copy the selected component.
  • File:tastoselezioneaccessorio.png: allows you to select the profile.
  • File:tastoexcel.png: allows you to display or manage the data in table form.

Section 1: technical information on the profile

Name File:tastomenutendina.png
Shows the name of the component profile.
Position File:tastomenutendina.png
Shows the position of the component profile on the compound profile and is used for color assignment. Four items are proposed:
  • None
By choosing this item, the profile will be considered raw, so the cost calculation will be based on the raw price, typically for reinforcements inside the profile or for PVC bars in thermal break profiles.
  • Internal
By choosing this item, the cost calculation will be based on the price of the internal color of the typology, typically for the wooden component or the internal component of the thermal break.
  • External
By choosing this item, the cost calculation will be based on the price of the external color of the typology, typically for the aluminum component in aluminum-wood profiles or the external component of the thermal break.
  • Int.-Ext.
By choosing this item, the cost calculation will also take into account any two-color setting configured on the typology in the job, typically for PVC profiles.

Note N.B: The fields explained below are enabled only if the Component cutting field has been enabled in the Profiles archive window.
Type File:tastomenutendina.png
This field, with its associated button, opens a list from which the operator defines the function of the component in the compound profile. This field is mainly used by users who use Opera Machinings, when it is necessary to perform the machining only on the profile that uses the parameter set in this field.
Color rule File:tastoc.png
shows the name of the color rule to be associated. It is enabled if Internal or External is chosen in the Position field.
Separate finish
By enabling this field, the program considers the finish type of the external color when using the component.
Finish
Strictly linked to the previous Separate finish field, it opens a list of finishes to which the colors are associated in the archive, in order to enable component differentiation.
Exclude arch
Tells the program that the component must be excluded if the compound profile is arched.
Do not trim stave
If enabled, tells the program not to trim the stave linked to the component.
Panel trimming
If enabled, tells the program to trim the stave linked to the component.
Joint side
Allows you to indicate the joint side of the component, when required by the configuration.

Section 2: technical information on the reinforcement

Specify reinforcements
Selecting this field enables the function that allows you to determine on which side of the typology the profile reinforcement must be loaded. This function is very useful when, even though the same main profile is used on all sides of the typology, the reinforcement is required only on one or more sides. Consequently, the technical printouts will show the reinforcement quantities only for the sides where they are inserted.
Structure typeFile:tastomenutendina.png
This field has an associated button that opens a list of structure types, from which the type determining reinforcement insertion according to the window/door type is selected.

Therefore: in the previous field the position is defined, while in this field the typology is defined.

Section 3: options, conditions, and variables

Option File:tastoc.png
The button opens the link to the option selection. This field is associated with the STD and Cond. fields and determines the type of insertion of the component into the structure. In this regard, it is recommended to refer to the paragraph dedicated to the Typology options table.
STD
By enabling this field, the program considers the component loading option as the standard choice. This function is useful when several components must be loaded according to the option type.
Cond.
If this field is active, the program will not request the option in the Typology data and will use it only as a condition, automatically.
Condition
In this field you can set the insertion condition of a component; that is, the component may need to be applied only under certain conditions. In fact, if you set Interval, the program enables the fields for defining the variable (Var. field File:tastomenutendina.png) and the values relating to the insertion parameters. The choice of some variables enables the Rounding field, used to determine the measurement to be used for approximation, which can also be defined by TypeFile:tastomenutendina.png in the associated field (Rounding, Excess, Defect).

Section 4: component cutting rules

Exclude from cutting
Tells the program that the component must be excluded from the cutting list.
Cut assembly
Tells the program that the component must be considered in the same cutting list as the compound profile.

One case in which Cut assembly can be used is when the component must be cut together with the compound profile.

Cutting difference
Perpendicular diff.
This is the value subtracted from the cutting dimension of the compound profile to obtain the cutting dimension of the component, only if the compound profile is cut at 45°. The value must be negative, for example –25. (see the image on the side)
Axial difference
This is the value added to the cutting dimension of the compound profile to obtain the cutting dimension of the component.

This value can be used to calculate the cutting dimension of the steel reinforcement of a PVC profile, which usually has to be cut shorter. By entering the value –150, the steel reinforcement will be cut 150 mm shorter than the PVC profile.

Left angle and Right angle
This is the value used to determine the cutting angles of the component profile when they are different from those of the compound profile. The default value is auto and sets the component cuts equal to those of the compound profile.
Compound left and Compound right
fields for managing complementary angles.
Formula
In this field, enter the formula for calculating the cutting dimension, when the profile data are different from those in the archive and it is necessary to perform calculations to obtain the correct cutting list.
Exclude Operations
if enabled, excludes the machinings from the component.
Invert component
if selected, inverts the component and the cuts and machinings will be reversed.
Frequency
defines the frequency of profiles in series, such as slats or staves.
Merge at the edges
if enabled, merges components with the same name belonging to different but consecutive compound profiles.
Offset
field that allows you to enter a measurement for the vertical positioning of the component, for correct display of the machinings in the Design Sheet.
Conn. bar position File:tastomenutendina.png
field active only for profile auto-selections for connection bar.
Notching position
this is the difference between the cutting reference of the compound profile and that of the component for calculating the cut in cases of compound angle.
Internal head depth
this is the internal dimension, applied in case of a head angle greater than 90°.
External head depth
this is the external dimension, applied in case of a head angle lower than 90°.

Section 5: the Archive button

  • The File:tastoarchivio.png button opens the Profiles archive for the selected profile.
